While significant progress has been made in managing physical and operational risks, equal attention now needs to be given to psychosocial risks. These risks include excessive workload, role ambiguity, workplace distractions and prolonged stress, all of which have the potential to impair judgment, reduce performance, and increase the risk of accidents and errors. The matter was emphasised by the Deputy Minister for Security and Law at the Prime Minister's Office, during the Launching of Safety Month 2026. Held in conjunction with the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, the event was held at the Design and Technology Building, Anggerek Desa.
Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu as Chairman of the SHENA Board of Directors also emphasised the importance of a holistic and forward-looking approach to occupational safety and health in supporting Wawasan Brunei 2035. The event was held in conjunction with the Launch of the National Occupational Safety and Health Policy.
The keynote address titled “Thriving Workers, Strong Organisations: An Islamic Reflection on Psychosocial Working Environments" was delivered by Awang Muhd Yussof bin Haji Abdul Majid, Head of Counselling and Religious Understanding (KAFA) Division, Department of Syariah Affairs. The launch of Safety Month 2026 and the National Occupational Safety and Health Policy reflects the country's commitment to protecting the safety of the workforce.
